About Hungry Allie

You might have guessed from the title that I love food. I’ve gingerly explored the kitchen a little over the years as a self-proclaimed foodie, but never really challenged myself to learn more or grow my culinary skills past a comfortable level. Through this blog I will be doing just that.

My love of food goes beyond my own kitchen of course. Dining out is just about my favourite thing to do, but my wallet disapproves, so this blog exercises my culinary creativity, as well as budgeting and self restraint.

I started this blog to raise money during the first year of the Go Jill Go Challenge in 2011. All participants were encouraged to choose their own challenge, something they’ve always wanted to do, or something they love, to help raise awareness and earn pledges for this worthy cause. Fundraising challenges are so often exercise-oriented, whether it’s running, yoga, or bootcamp, and to that I said, “I’d rather do the opposite! Let’s eat like crazy instead!”

So during the month of February 2011, my personal challenge was to cook 28 new recipes over the 28 days of the month, and to create awareness of Jill’s story while raising money through pledges. And while the frequency of my posts has gone done significantly since then, I love my blog as a passion project, and will continue to share my culinary adventures as often as I can.

Thanks for following along and supporting my insatiable appetite.
